Scott Dufresne, M.D.

Dr. Scott Dufresne is the medical director of point of care testing at Eastern Maine Medical Center, several EMHS outpatient practices and the Lafayette Family Cancer Center laboratory . 
He
received his MD at Tufts University school of Medicine in 2003.  He then completed his pathology residency at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH followed by a two year fellowship in hematopathology at the University of Pittsburgh.  In 2009 he took his current position at Dahl-Chase Pathology Associates in Bangor, ME.

Steven D. Mahlen, PhD, D(ABMM)

Dr. Steve Mahlen is the Director of Microbiology for Affiliated Laboratory, Inc., in Bangor, Maine. He received his B.S. and M.S. in microbiology from South Dakota State University and his Ph.D. in medical microbiology from Creighton University. He completed a clinical microbiology fellowship from the University of Washington and is board certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Medical Microbiology. Dr. Mahlen served in the U.S. Army as a microbiologist from 1993-2013 in a variety of assignments, including Chief of Microbiology/Immunology at William Beaumont Army Medical Center, Chief of Molecular Microbiology at Madigan Army Medical Center, Director of Microbiology at Madigan Army Medical Center, and Director of the Bacterial Diseases Branch, Walter Reed Army Institute of Research. In addition, he served as a microbiologist in a combat support hospital in Haiti in 1995-1996 and in Iraq in 2006-2007. Dr. Mahlen is also an associate faculty member at the University of Maine and is an allied health professional assigned to the medicine service, infectious diseases section at Eastern Maine Medical Center.

Orin Buetens, M.D.

Dr. Orin Buetens is the medical director of transfusion medicine at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, ME as well as medical director of the Sebasticook Valley Hospital Laboratory in Pittsfield, ME and the Mayo Hospital Laboratory in Dover-Foxcroft, ME.   He received his MD from Tufts University school of Medicine in 1997.  He then completed his residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD followed by subspecialty fellowship training in surgical pathology and blood banking/transfusion medicine at the same institution.  In 2003 he started his current position at Dahl-Chase Pathology Associates in Bangor, ME.  He has served as president of Dahl-Chase Pathology Associates/Dahl-Chase Diagnostic Services since 2011.
