Client Lock Box Instructions

If you are transporting multiple specimens requiring different temperatures:
  1. The box should be inside until packed for the courier. It is important that these boxes start at room temperature in order to maintain specimen integrity.
  2. Place a freeze pack on the bottom of the box.
  3. Place frozen specimens (if applicable) directly on the freeze pack.
  4. Place a towel on top of the freeze pack/specimens to serve as a barrier.
  5. Place refrigerated specimens on the towel.
  6. Place another towel on the refrigerated specimens as a barrier.
  7. Place room temperature specimens on the towel.
If you only have refrigerated specimens:
  1. Place a cold pack on the bottom of the box.
  2. Place a towel on the cold pack as a barrier.
  3. Place refrigerated specimens on the towel.
If you only have room temperature specimens:
  1. The box must be at room temperature.
  2. No packs required
  3. Place room temperature specimens in the box.
Additional Notes:
  • Maintaining specimen integrity is extremely important to laboratory testing.
  • These boxes are designed to start at room temperature, so it is vital they stay inside until packing for the courier.
